Dad.

Dad.
Written by Cathoel Jorss,

My father has just died. His name was Peter Roy Jorss. His own father died of suicide when Dad was 12 years old. He took us all round the world. He built bridges. My mother rang to let me know and the call was eight minutes thirty one seconds long. He is still lying in his bed and my little cat is guarding him.

Cathoel, sad and sorry to hear this, but hope you can find a kind of comfort in the release it also brings. Also hope your mother can find that. He built bridges; that magic lives on in you. Many hugs.

Sending my love Cathoel. I’m glad you were there with him recently and I’m glad he had your little cat for comfort. I hope that comforts you too.

So sorry for the loss of your Kantha (Father) Cathoel. We lost our Father almost a year ago now & it has been pivotal for the island community here but also for me as I decided to return to (sea) country where he was born, lived most of his life & inevitably left this realm. We now travel the 80 odd km as many weekends as we can to our traditional homelands at the (opposite) eastern end of the island and we’re always blessed by our time there. I always think that it’s in part to Kantha Bunbadgee (White Dove) blessing us. Often with Indigenous Peoples we respect the spirits by not using their names unless family wish it so in honour of your wishes; Kunartha (Lardil farewell) & Long Live Peter Roy Jorss!

Give yourself a hug from me Cathoel. I’m no believer in heaven but if it is there my mum is busy showing your dad all the best places and my dad is reading in the corner somewhere. Treat yourself very gently today.
